Job Description

Join us as Chief Program Office, Family Life at one of the top JCCs in the country. With 1.5 million visits each year, the JCCSF brings people of all backgrounds together to fill their lives with well-being, discovery, and purpose. The CPO Family Life will shepherd organization initiatives around strengthening families and shaping youth into good citizens, joyful learners, and well-rounded people using the best of Jewish culture and tradition. You will join an organization with demonstrated excellence in activity design and execution and with supportive civic stakeholders and participant communities.

The CPO Family Life will be tasked with three key challenges:

Ensure operational excellence and meet financial objectives in a changing landscape.

Adapt our family life offerings to incorporate remote and digital community building opportunities.

Create ways to strengthen family life in new San Francisco geographies.

The CPO Family Life oversees the organization initiatives around strengthening families and shaping youth into good citizens, joyful learners, and well-rounded people. Specifically, the CPO’s scope of responsibility includes three early childhood education centers serving almost 400 families, a summer and school vacation day camp serving more than 1,300 kids, an 100+ child afterschool program, the largest youth basketball league in the city, as well as well-regarded arts and dance classes, teen programs, and more. By the numbers, the position had more than $14m in P&L responsibility and oversaw a workforce of more than 120 benefited staff with additional seasonal workers during 2019-2020.

As a member of the executive leadership team and reporting to the CEO, the CPO Family Life works closely with the VP Marketing and Chief Development Officer to ensure that the Center generates public participation in and philanthropic resources for our activities. The CPO Family Life working in collaboration with CPO, Roots + Culture and the CEO shapes the JCCSF’s strategy for doing Jewish.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop vision, success metrics, and program design for strengthening families across our youth-facing program activities with an emphasis on meaning making starting from Jewish culture and tradition.

  • Ensure accountability for Family Life mission and business objectives during yearly planning and ongoing supervision.

  • Ensure safe and effective operation of our licensed and drop-in programs.

  • Mentor and motivate staff to create a collaborative group culture focused on learning and exploration.

  • Cultivate relationships with our families and parent communities to build strong connections and loyalty.

  • Partner with marketing to deliver compelling storytelling for Family Life activities that drives public participation.

  • Partner with development to identify and cultivate donor interest and engagement with Family Life programming

  • Partner with our Board of Directors through regular presentations at board and committee meetings including staffing our ECE Task-force and other board committees as needed.

Requirements:

  • A senior leader with extensive experience in family engagement, youth development, and early childhood education.

  • Passionate about building community and the city of SF.

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with experience developing new business models and navigating organizational change.

  • A culture builder, people person and positive human who is creative, curious, and compassionate.

  • Commitment to working in an environment that embraces the value of Jewish culture and tradition for everyone in San Francisco’s multicultural ethos.

  • High energy, extroverted and able to play a lead brand ambassador role internally and externally.

  • Experience developing a strong, independent management team and adept at working within a collaborative, complicated workforce.
