Description

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Public Relations and Communications Manager is accountable for a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of the company’s marketing and communications team, including public relations management, writing for the association, and social media management.

Job Responsibilities

Public relations management:

  • Developing public relations lists and managing relationships with the press

  • Identifying story arcs and publicity campaigns and writing pitches and press releases to gain media coverage

  • Prepping staff for interviews

  • Managing inbound PR calls and analyzing media coverage

Writing for the Association, including:

  • Actual writing of content (articles, speeches, and more)

  • Finding and working with contributing writers

Social media management:

  • Developing and implementing a national social media management strategy focused on engagement and reach

  • Writing, scheduling, posting, and responding as needed on ACA’s national social media channels

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • A minimum of five years of public relations experience, agency experience preferred

  • Excellent writer, editor, and proofreader with experience identifying and developing messaging for a national brand/organization with an understanding of how PR supports and extends integrated marketing campaigns

  • Relationship builder able to identify resources needed to gather various forms of content and cultivate a network of journalists, producers, writers, bloggers, and outlets focused on youth development with whom to share press releases and other ACA content

  • Existing national print and broadcast media relationships

  • Talented storyteller and content creator

  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creativity

  • Working knowledge of social media community management and platforms, including Facebook, Facebook groups, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, and Google
