Lupine's Message to the Field

Dear CalSAC Community,

It is an incredible honor to shift into the CalSAC Executive Director role in this moment.  CalSAC has been an important part of my life for nearly 15 years – over and over again, it has grounded me in my values, connected me to a community of support and inspiration, and reminded me of how I can leverage my strengths to “change the things in the world that I cannot accept” (Angela Davis).  I have also borne witness to stories of connection, empowerment, and transformation from countless others in the CalSAC community.  These stories remind me of what makes this organization so special – CalSAC is a place for each of us to find our authentic voice and stand in our greatness.  It is a place for us to unite as a community, amplify a call for justice, and work alongside young people to imagine and build the world that we want to live in.

CalSAC’s greatness has been and will continue to be possible because of all of us.

And while I am excited for this leadership role, I recognize that it is not one leader who will drive the organization forward, or create meaningful connections, or define our priorities and unique impact in the field – CalSAC’s greatness has been and will continue to be possible because of all of us.

I am humbled by the incredible power and passion of the CalSAC community and can’t wait to work alongside you in this new capacity to build a collective vision that uplifts the out-of-school time field and drives toward equity and justice for the youth of California.  In this unique moment in history, it is even more important that we are standing shoulder to shoulder to ensure that OST programs and professionals have what they need to support young people.

Keep an eye out in the New Year for opportunities to connect, collaborate and dream forward together.  In the meantime, please reach out to me at any time with thoughts, questions, concerns, and ideas.

In community,
