Dear CalSAC Community,
My name is Sara Reyes and I am excited to serve as the Interim Executive Director for CalSAC during the permanent Executive Director (ED) search. My relationship with CalSAC is not new. I was a Leadership Development Institute (LDI) Fellow (2012/first cohort), a Board Member for 5 years, have contracted CalSAC for many staff trainings, and participated in the California Afterschool and Summer Challenge for over 10 years. I am excited to continue my relationship with CalSAC in this new capacity.
A little bit more about me: I first began my career in the out-of-school time field right out of high school. I never realized that afterschool was to become the beacon of my successful career for the next 27 years! I went from working for the City of San Jose’s Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services for 7 years to leading ASES and 21st Century afterschool programs for over 10 years at Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County. CalSAC was part of my leadership journey and directly responsible for much of my growth via the LDI program.
Today I still lead and manage afterschool programs along with other diverse community programs addressing social injustices and aimed to prevent, reduce, and alleviate poverty for thousands of individuals throughout Santa Clara County. I will serve in both roles until a permanent ED is hired and settled in at CalSAC.
In my Interim role I will bring my servant leadership style, my passion for social justice, management and leadership skills, and compassionate heart to CalSAC, while also humbly upholding the mission and values of the organization. I look forward to working with the CalSAC staff, Board of Directors, networks of OST professionals, and funders. Please feel free to reach out to me to share any opportunities to support and enhance CalSAC’s work throughout California.
In Community Spirit,
Sara Reyes
