meet the MLTP Bite-Sized video series trainers

Hello, my name is Beverly Matthews.I choose to participate in the Multilingual Language Learner Project (MLTP) because I am a servant leader who values helping others. I have worked with Multilingual Learner parents and staff for over 15 years and participated in the 2014-2015 English Language (EL) project with California School-Age Consortium (CalSAC). I have transferred the knowledge gained from CalSAC EL Training of Trainers sessions, work, and volunteer experience to how I approach, appreciate and work with Multilingual Learners in all phases of my life. It is an honor to have the opportunity to support the virtual MLTP and video creations with CalSAC, servicing the out-of-school time field.

A leader, learner, educator, and explorer at the intersection of access, arts, culture, diversity, equity, identity, inclusion, innovation, justice, language, liberatory practices, math, mental health and wellness, science, and social emotional learning, Delaney Bantillo is thrilled to be part of CalSAC’s current launch of the Multilingual Learner Training Project (MLTP) and engaging out of school time folks in these ever-relevant and essential conversations. Her work with newcomer and multilingual students and their families, as well as building the capacity of and supporting the professional development of educators, is her life fuel. Delaney appreciates that the topics that the MLTP covers are applicable not only within programs serving newcomer and multilingual youth but across many, if not unlimited, contexts, and sees the strategies that the MLTP presents equipping folks to create safe, brave, inclusive, and uplifting environments and programming for staff and students of any intersection of identities, steps toward establishing more just structures and systems and equitable access to opportunities throughout society. Participating in the MLTP Video Series has enabled Delaney to help CalSAC reach an even wider audience by breaking down 2-hour trainings into 2-4-minute trainings.
