CalSAC helps build an out-of-school time workforce (such as before school, afterschool and summer learning) that is filled with strong mentors and highly skilled practitioners who reflect the communities they serve.

Through collaboration and innovation, our network creates ripple effects of opportunity, equity and transformation throughout California, both for professionals and the young people they serve.

WHAT WE DO

We equip out-of-school time professionals to provide training to youth-serving programs

People who work in out-of-school time programs are hungry for the tools and resources they need to help all kids succeed. CalSAC responds to that need by offering
a diverse array of ongoing training and development opportunities to youth providers across the state.

We develop equity-driven leaders that
reflect their communities

Although California’s out-of-school time line staff mostly mirrors the young people they serve, disparities exist in executive leadership, policy creation and board positions. Through equity-driven programs, CalSAC is building a pipeline of practitioners that will better reflect California’s diversity at all levels.

We unite the out-of-school time field to advocate for children and families

CalSAC trains and inspires professionals, families and youth to advocate for policies that create greater investment in and support for out-of-school time programs and professionals. This work also provides an outlet for civic engagement and helps spark
interest in policy and advocacy.
