California Academy of Sciences Science Action Club

Science Action Club (SAC) is a comprehensive science and nature learning experience designed for middle school youth in out-of-school time. The full suite of resources includes easy-to-read science curriculum guides, supplies for hands-on nature investigations, custom-configured digital resources, and professional development training and support that enables afterschool providers to offer Science Action Club in their local communities. Youth in SAC explore the environment, contribute to real scientific research through citizen science projects, and develop essential scientific process skills that empower them to successfully study and sustain the natural world.

Energenius® Out of School Time Program

Energenius® Out of School Time Program training modules were created through a partnership between PG&E and CalSAC. It is designed to engage children and youth to think about how they use energy, how energy is measured, paid for, and ways to save energy. Children and youth will understand how they can help reduce the impacts of energy use and production on the environment, and also practice influencing others to take energy-saving actions. These new modules are uniquely and intentionally designed to engage families in what youth are learning as well and provide families with resources for CARE, a PG&E program that incentivizes families to put energy saving practices to use and save on their energy bill.

NPASS

NPASS (National Partnership for Afterschool Science) trains afterschool staff to lead hands-on STEM projects with kids. No science background is required: just the courage and patience to learn new skills so as to make great science available to all kids. NPASS Institutes and workshops combine principles of youth development with best practices for hands-on learning to create exciting science experiences for students.
